{Pre-order for Dec. '26} Arkham 'Tweeduroy' 7.5-wale Discharge-printed Corduroy Trousers (Brown)

Introducing the Arkham pants. Same dependable Daybreaks cut, but this time sewn from a new cloth with a past. Tweeduroy, they called it in the 1930s, and even patented it, proudly stamping it 'the Aristocrat of Corduroys'.

This 100% cotton fabric is a direct reproduction of the speckled corduroy made in the 1930s and '40s by Hockmeyer Co. in Lowell, Massachusetts at the Waterhead Mills where the Concord River bends like an old elbow and the looms never slept.

This specially made corduroy comes in at a sturdy 10 oz. weight, milled in Japan, soft in the hand and warm where you need it to be. Discharge-printed speckles wander across a 7.5-wale cord that takes a drubbing without complaint. Mothers bought it for boys who climbed fences. Young men wore it to look respectable while doing anything but. Dirt melted into the pattern. Trouble did too. Now it returns, woven and printed the way it once was, ready for whatever mischief you have in mind.

The waistband and pocket bags are lined with an ecru twill, just like the originals, but this one is woven in Japan. The pocket bags are taped for extra reinforcement so they will always hold up, no matter how much you stash in them. The fly has a nickel zipper, just like the originals, this one a 1930s repro Waldes zipper, made in Japan. The top closes with a urea resin button, also made in Japan, just like the suspender buttons along the waistband. The side cinches are also period correct, often used on young men's collegiate pants but are a detail that dates back to men's 1910s work pants. They allow you to cinch up the sides for a clean fit, or can be loosened for more action.

For a brief window in the mid-1930s, boys could earn a free Official Tweeduroy Badge dog pin with a purchase of their Tweeduroy clothes. We tracked down an original, matched the design line for line, reproduced it, and included one in with every pair.

What does all this mean? The Arkham pants are possibly the last cords you'll ever need.
