Rough Rider oz. Denim Cord Collegiate Pants (Indigo)
Rah rah rah, ride into comfort and style in the oz. Rough Rider 1930s-style collegiate denim cord pants!
The Rough Rider are named after a pair of 1930s collegiate pants of the same name, themselves likely alluding to their durability and Teddy Rosevelt’s Rough Riders. However, these are more campus than barracks; the early ‘30s saw an explosion of collegiate, “whoppee” pants with details such as side cinches, double button waistbands, even fancy embroidery.
Fabric
The Rough Rider is made with a 100% cotton, oz. Japanese denim that’s been woven as a -wale corduroy, essentially combining these two fabrics into one. The indigo will fade with wear like regular denim, making for a new kind of fading experience.
Fit
The fit on the Rough Rider is similar to the Daybreaks: mid-to-high rise, straight leg, generous but not baggy, and comfortable in all the right places. Take your same Daybreaks and Pacemakers size.
Details
The Rough Rider doesn’t skimp on details: the side cinches mimic those of ‘30s collegiate (which in turn were revived from 1910s work pants).
The waistband is a Japanese-milled 5 oz. sulphur-dyed black wabash chambray. The pocket bags are Japanese-milled ecru twill and are completely taped for strength.
The zipper is a Japanese-made Waldes zipper that replicates 1930s ones.
The suspender buttons are Panamanian-made corozo buttons made from the naturally harvested tagua nut.
The woven tags are made in Japan on vintage shuttle looms.
