Crafted from an 11 oz. loopwheel fabric, knit in Wakayama, Japan on antique machines, the Titan is a celebration of slow fashion and unmatched quality. The fabric, knit without tension with hanging loopwheel machines, boasts a unique softness and strength, whispering of both nearly century-old heritage and comfort. Imagine sinking your hands into the cloud-like softness of the loopwheel fabric, yet feeling the reassuring strength woven into every stitch.

The Blue version of this afterhood is garment dyed, which means it was cut and sewn in natural, ecru-colored fabric then dyed. This means the afterhood will fade with use and wear more readily, making it easier to create a well-worn look.

Durable flat lock stitching and double V neck paneling echo the details of early sweatshirts, while the ribbed wristlets and waistband lock in warmth. Two pointed front pockets and a sleek drawstring pay homage to the highly prized Duxbak afterhoods of the 1940s while remaining functional.

Every element – from the 100% cotton Japanese-made drawstring to the garment tag woven on vintage shuttle looms – echoes to our commitment to quality and ethical manufacturing. Made in Japan in collaboration with John Lofgren, the result is greater than the sum of its parts, making the Titan a versatile, warm, and classic addition to almost anything you throw at it.

Historical backdrop: Originally dubbed “winter sport jackets”, afterhoods were seen as a stylish but practical and warm solution to outdoor sports and work that required freedom of movement. In recent years they’ve become known as “afterhoods” or “retrofit hoods” because hoods were originally sewn onto finished crew neck sweatshirts, giving rise to the hoodie.
