Giddy up cowboys and cowgirls because we’re proud to present our new offering: the Stampede 1930s-style Hand-stamped Western Belt!

Western belts began to appear in mail-order catalogs in the 1920s and by the early 1930s they had found popularity with cowboys, college students, boys, and dude ranch travelers alike.

For the Stampede belt I teamed up with Matt Codina of Codina Leather because of his deep knowledge of 1930s western belts, painstaking efforts to recreate them, and expert craftsmanship.

This model is made with vegetable tanned Hermann Oak Grade-A 6/7 oz. top grain tooling cowhide, the same kind of leather used in 1930s originals, tanned in St. Louis, Missouri. The natural version of this belt will darken and develop a unique patina over time as you wear it. The 1 3/4” tall leather strap is a period-correct thinness and is neither bulky nor obtrusive. These belts also have the backs hand waxed with beeswax for a cleaner finish. At times you’ll forget you’re even wearing a belt, in a good way.

The Stampede also features a rare and unique touch — they are meticulously hand-stamped with a deadstock 1930s geometric stamp. This specific pattern was created by one of the leading pattern makers of the era, renowned for their work on western and novelty belts. Its simplicity reflects the style that emerged in the late 1920s and early 1930s. No other belt today is being made with this hard-to-find stamp.

The hardware on the Stampede belt includes a nickel-plated, steel-pressed 1930s reproduction ‘Indian motif’ buckle. These buckles are made in USA exclusively for Codina Leather to match the originals as closely as possible and feature Native American whirling logs, which have an ancient history dating back to 2,000 BC. Carl Sagan and his co-author Ann Druyan in their book “Comet” argue that the sighting of a four-tailed comet around 2,000 BC that was visible in the Old World and pre-Columbian Americas could explain why this symbol is found throughout various ancient cultures worldwide.

And last but not least, the Stampede belt is made in the heart of the West in Las Vegas, Nevada.
