{Vintage} - WWII Endicott-Johnson women's US Army sneakers, sz. 4.5, dated 1945

As World War II raged on, the number of men able to serve in the US military was deemed insufficient, so the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps. (WAC) was created by the US Army on May 15th, 1942. Their specialties varied, from switchboard operators to mechanics, armorers, stenographers, and more. 

These sneakers are dated to March 1945, and were likely worn during physical training. They were made by Endicott-Johnson, one of the largest shoemakers in America at the time, operating out of Endicott, New York. These sneakers are deadstock, or new old stock, and were likely never used because the war ended six months after they were made.
