This work pant is closely related to the Daybreak work pants but has been made in a 10 oz., yarn-dyed denim herringbone twill that will fade like regular denim but with added character. It’s a sturdy, yet easy wearing, fabric that has a satisfyingly textured hand feel.
The HBT denim Pacemakers also feature 6 oz., Japanese-milled salt and pepper pocket bags, and the front pocket bags are extra deep for added carrying capacity. In addition, there’s the familiar 5 oz., Japanese-milled indigo-dyed, discharge printed wabash waistband, and a garment workers’ tag tucked away on the left pocket bag.
Both the inseam and outseam are flat-felled, chainstitched seams this time, the back pocket openings and watch pocket opening are double welted, and the top button on the button fly is just a hair larger for an easier grip.
Herringbone has a long history dating back to Ancient Rome, where the pattern was devised for the brick paving used in the Romans’ extensive roadways. Centuries later the pattern found its way into fabrics in Italy and Ireland, leading directly to the popular herringbone twills of the modern era.
